Dillon Lee Mitchell is a native of Brooklyn, New York born September 17, 1984. Dillon graduated from Oakwood University in 2006 and married his wife Saenya in 2007. In 2008 Dillon enlisted as a Specialist in the US Army as a Combat engineer. In 2013 Dillon graduated from Officer Candidate School and commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army. He was assigned to Brigade Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division since October 2013.

Mitchell deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom from October 2009 to September 2010.

Mitchell’s awards and decorations include two Army Commendation Medals, two Army Achievement Medals, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal with campaign star, Global, Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Medal and Parachutist Badge. – submitted by family
