Captain Aaron D. Cox graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 2001. He ran cross-country, and swam for the all-state swim team as well as the Little Rock Lasers swim team. During his youth, he continually spent his summers at Aviation Challenge in Huntsville, Alabama.

Capt. Cox was a Class of 2005 United States Naval Academy graduate. Capt. Cox was on a night-time training flight when his Super Cobra crashed on May 5, 2009. He earned the Global War on Terrorism Medal and the National Defense Service Medal for his service. He is survived by his parents and his sister.

Capt. Cox was honored through the Travis Manion Foundation Character Does Matter program presented during the USNA’s Summer Seminar and USNA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Camp for rising 11th graders.
