Captain Franklin Hooks, II was flying a training mission in an F/A-18 Hornet when he was reported missing south of the Azores in June 2004. He was a 1997 graduate of the United States Naval Academy. Capt Hooks, II was honored through the Travis Manion Foundation’s Character Does Matter program presented during the USNA’s Summer Seminar and USNA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Camp for rising 11th graders.
