Chief Petty Officer Christian Michael Pike, 31, died March 13, 2013 in Landstuhl, Germany, with his fiancé and family by his side, as a result of combat related injuries sustained on March 10, while conducting stability operations in the Maiwand District of Afghanistan. Christian was attached to a West Coast-based SEAL Team.

Christian’s decorations and awards include the Bronze Star with Valor, Purple Heart Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Commendation, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, GWOT Expeditionary Service Medal, GWOT Service Medal, and Nato Medal.

He is survived by his fiancé Morgan Lakner, his mother Diana Pike, and younger sister Denise Pike.

His fiancé Morgan traveled to Lima, Peru in July for the Survivor Summit 2014 Expedition. She joined with other survivors to honor her fallen hero and experience the healing power of the mountains.
