Lieutenant Colonel David S. Greene was killed on July 28, 2004 when the Cobra helicopter he was flying was hit by small-arms fire in Al Anbar Province in western Iraq.  Greene, a 1986 Naval Academy graduate was a reservist assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 775, Marine Aircraft Group 16, 3rd Marine Air Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, CA.  David is survived by his wife and children.

“He was a star,” Major Randy Parker said of Lt. Colonel Greene, “The Marines who worked for him loved him.”

Lt. Col. Greene was honored through the Travis Manion Foundation’s Character Does Matter program presented during the USNA’s Summer Seminar and USNA STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) Camp for rising 11th graders.
