Ronald Irwin was born March 15, 1952, to Mary and Lancaster Irwin in Kingston, Jamaica. He graduated from Ardenne High School in 1970 and came to the United States in October 1978 in search of opportunities. On March 8, 2008, Ron was suddenly taken away from us. He is survived by his wife Wanda Irwin, and four children: Kytisha, Kareena, Le’Ron and Kareesa.

Ronald began his career in the United States Navy on December 27, 1984 by entering the Delayed Entry Program before becoming active duty on March 13, 1985. He excelled and received numerous recommendations and honors for his work. Some honors awarded to him were: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation medal, five Navy Achievement medals, Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit medal, four Good Conduct medals, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service medal and various other campaign medals. Ronald received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Leo College in January of 1992. At the time of his passing, Ronald, was taking classes to get his Master degree. His drive and passion for continuous advancement led him to achieving the title and responsibility of Lieutenant Ronald E. Irwin with the United States Navy. While at the Norfolk Naval Station in May of 2008 Ronald was promoted to Lieutenant Commander and was very excited and looking forward to the position. He was not able to get the title due to his death. The Friday of his Hail and Farewell ceremony, he was called home to be with the Lord.

 Ron showed no hesitation to offering assistance and spreading his knowledge and expertise to his fellow soldiers. As well as residents in need in the many foreign lands where he was called to duty during his 25 year career in the United States Navy. His love for sports inspired him to offer his assistance to children as a Soccer Coach in his spare time in Virginia Beach. Ronald also actively participate on the International Commonwealth Cricket Teams in Philadelphia, Pa.

 Ron’s spirit, generosity, consideration along with his heroic and genuine nature touched the lives of many who crossed his path. His love of life, family and education is an example for his grandchildren Autumn, Jaeden, Jameer, Zaire,Zaikee and Zamia and his many nieces and nephews. His light will forever shine on his family, we are blessed to have known you. We are blessed to have been touched by your presence. Ron’s service and legacy were honored by family on the 2016 Expedition to Gallup, New Mexico.
