Casey was a SPC in the Army – stationed at Fort Bragg NC in the 919th Engineer Unit – Airborne. Casey seemed to have found his niche in life and loved everything that he was doing including jumping out of airplanes. In May 2011 he was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma and battled this disease with chemo, surgery, and radiation for 16 months until he passed away on Sept. 4, 2012. Casey was a kind, generous, caring, and selfless young man of whom I am very proud. All that Casey wanted was to be deployed with his unit but he died one month before they left for Afghanistan. His last words to his commanding officer were “take care of the unit Sir and bring them home safe.” – Submitted by family
