The 9/11 Heroes Run 5k +1M fun run/walk welcomes runners, ruckers, and walkers of all levels and of all ages. Events take place all over the world, on or near September 11th, and are 100% organized by local community volunteers. It is the perfect opportunity for your community to personally come out and thank your local veterans, their families, and first responders in an annual, fun, and family friendly environment!

PACKET PICK-UP AND IN-PERSON LATE REGISTRATION

In the loop next to the Charleston Fire & Police Dept. located at 235 Seven Farms Drive, Daniel Island

    • *Must show valid Government or First Responder ID at time of Registration!

EVENT PARKING

Event parking will be available at MUSC Health Stadium, located at 1900 Daniel Island Drive.  A complimentary shuttle service will be offered for your convenience from 6:30AM until 11:30AM.  

Limited street parking is available along Island Park Drive and portions of Seven Farms Drive between River Landing Dr and the Volvo Cars Stadium.  We kindly ask that you DO NOT PARK ANYWHERE BETWEEN THE INTERSECTIONS OF SEVEN FARMS/RIVER LANDING OR SEVEN FARMS/DANIEL ISLAND DRIVE, for the safety of all participants!  Any cars parked between River Landing Dr and Piew View Street between the hours of 10PM Friday, September 7th and 11:30AM Saturday, September 8th are subject to being towed at the owner’s expense!!! 

 

OPENING CEREMONIES & SPECIAL GUESTS OF HONOR

OPENING CEREMONIES WILL BEGIN @ 8:30AM, IN FRONT OF THE CHARLESTON FIRE & POLICE DEPT.

Opening ceremonies will include presentation of the flags, bagpipe performances, National Anthem and personal speeches by our Special Guests of Honor!

RAFFLES & GIVEAWAYS

Thanks to our generous sponsors, we will have TONS of amazing Raffles & Giveaways featured at our event.  Tickets are $1 each for all raffle prizes, with the exception of our Palmetto State Armory Gun Raffle, in which tickets will be $10 each!  All Raffle winners will be drawn and announced at the conclusion of our Awards Ceremony, and winners need not be present to win!!! 

 

GORUCK DIVISION

New this year, we have a GORUCK division!  There is NO WEIGHT REQUIREMENT for the GORUCK division!  Anyone registered for the GORUCK division will be expected to wear a Rucksack, backpack or comparable Military/First Responder uniform, flag and/or gear while participating in the 5K Run/Walk.  GORUCK participants will start at the same time and location as regular 5K participants and will utilize the same race course.  Those who participate in our GORUCK division will receive a commemorative GORUCK / Travis Manion Foundation patch, mailed directly to their registered address. 

 

ADDITIONAL INFO

Our event is STROLLER-FRIENDLY.  We ask that all participants using strollers line up in the back of the crowd at the Start Line, in order to avoid anyone getting trampled.

NO BIKES ARE ALLOWED IN THE 5K RUN/WALK

Our event is PET-FRIENDLY.  If you plan to bring a pet, we ask that they be up to date on all vaccinations and that they are non-aggressive, under any circumstances!  We will have large crowds, loud noises and young children so please use your best judgment when deciding whether or not to bring your pet.  We also ask that all pets be kept on a leash at all times, and that all pet owners clean up after their pet PROMPTLY…no exceptions!!!  

 

STREET CLOSURES

Seven Farms Drive between the intersections of River Landing Dr. and Piew View St. will be closed from 8:00AM until 10:00AM.  Other streets involved with our race route will be closed at approximately 9:00AM and reopened as soon as the last participant clears that section of the course, not to last longer than 10:00AM.  These streets include Seven Farms Drive between the intersections of River Landing and Daniel Island Drive, portions of Daniel Island Dr. (from main intersection to Purcell Lane) and River Landing Drive (from main intersection to Children’s Park).   

THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT AND WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO INVITE YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, NEIGHBORS AND CO-WORKERS TO JOIN YOU ON RACE DAY!
