    THIS IS A RAIN OR SHINE EVENT AND WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO INVITE YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, NEIGHBORS AND CO-WORKERS TO JOIN YOU ON RACE DAY!

     

    Schedule 
    Event starts with an opening ceremony at 8:30 AM, Race starts with Gun start promptly at 9:00 AM. Please arrive early to ensure you have plenty of time. 

     

    Course map and directions
    Starts at CHS FD Station 18- Heads down Seven Farms to Traffic circle at Daniel Island Dr, heads south towards and past Smythe Park, turns left at Wando landing Dr, continues on Wando Landing to Pierce St. Left on Pierce (water station is also here). Pierce along the park to Barfield, Right on Barfield to Daniel Island Dr. Then Right on Daniel Island Dr. To Circle, Right on to Seven Farms and back to start/finish.

    Race location
    Race starts and ends in front Of Charleston Police and Fire Station 18 at 438 Seven farms Dr. On Daniel Island. The race will take place at the intersection of River Landing Drive and Seven Farms Drive, next to the CHS FD Station 18.

     

    PARKING
    Free Parking is available on local streets, in the common areas on Daniel Island and at our Post race Party Sponsor New Relm Brewery. Additional overflow at any of Blackbaud lots is also FREE and open to the public for this event. Carpooling, Walking, Biking, and using ride share is encouraged. Ride share drop off areas is in front of Simmon Park at 211 River Landing Dr. Please DO NOT park on Seven Farms between River Landing and Daniel Island Drive.

     

    Pets
    Our event is PET-FRIENDLY. If you plan to bring a pet, we ask that they be up to date on all vaccinations and that they are non-aggressive, under any circumstances! We will have large crowds, loud noises and young children so please use your best judgment when deciding to bring your pet. We also ask that all pets be kept on a leash at all times, and that all pet owners clean up after their pet PROMPTLY…no exceptions!!!

     

    Strollers/Pushers
    We welcome strollers and those pushing disabled athletes. We ask that you start in the back. NO BIKES ARE ALLOWED IN THE 5K RUN/WALK

     

    TIMING 
    Chip timing ensures your time starts when you cross the start finish. Overall winner is established on clock times.

    STREET CLOSURES
    Seven Farms Drive between the intersections of River Landing Dr. and Pier View St. will be closed from 5AM until 11AM. Other streets involved with our race route will be closed at approximately 7:55AM and reopened as soon as the last participant clears that section of the course, not to last longer than 10AM. These streets include Seven Farms Drive between the intersections of River Landing and Daniel Island Drive, portions of Daniel Island Dr. (from main intersection to Wando Landing Dr) , Pierce Street (from Wando Landing to Barfield), and Barfield (from Pierce to Daniel Island Dr.).

     

    AWARDS
    Our Awards Ceremony will take place after the last finisher!!! We STRONGLY encourage participants to stick around for our Awards Ceremony, and cheer on those who receive one! The following awards will be handed out:

    GORUCK DIVISION
    Back again this year is the GORUCK division! In this division, there is a WEIGHT REQUIREMENT for medal consideration! Anyone registered for the GORUCK division will be expected to wear a Rucksack, backpack or comparable Military/First Responder uniform and/or gear while participating in the 5K Run/Walk. GORUCK participants wanting to be considered for medal placement in that division will need to bring their Rucksack, backpack, gear and/or other qualifying weight to the Packet Pick-Up table on race morning to be weighed!!! All those who wish to qualify for medal consideration will need to be checked in, weighed and confirmed no later than 8AM! GORUCK participants will start at the same time and location as regular 5K participants, and will utilize the same race course. All those who participate in our GORUCK division will receive a commemorative GORUCK / Travis Manion Foundation patch at Packet Pick-Up.     POST-RACE AFTER PARTY
    Join us for the official 9/11 Heroes Run – Charleston After Party @ New Realm Brewing Co. on Daniel Island!!! Get out of the heat and rest your feet, they will offer post race smoothies,  join us for live music and more!!! 

     

    Traffic ALERT
    Seven Farms Dr @ River Landing Dr. & Pier View St. will be closed 5:00AM until 11:00AM. Other streets involved with our race route will be closed at approximately 8:45AM and reopened as soon as the last participant clears that part of the course, not to last longer than 10:00AM. These streets include Seven Farms Dr. @ River Landing and Daniel Island Drive, portions of Daniel Island Dr. (from Trafc Circle to Wando Landing Dr), Wando Landing from Daniel Island to Pierce, Pierce St. to Wando Landing to Bareld, and Bareld from Pierce to Daniel Island Dr. WE ASK THAT YOU USE YOUR REAR ARKING FROM FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 15TH @ 8PM UNTIL SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH @ 11AM, FOR THE SAFETY OF OUR PARTICIPANTS!

  • GORUCK

    Travis Manion Foundation is proud to partner with GORUCK again in 2023, bringing rucking divisions to every 9/11 Heroes Run. Rucking is a sport grounded in Special Forces Training in which participants carry weighted rucksacks. All participants registered for the GORUCK division will receive this year's exclusive TMF GORUCK patch. Please read the rules and requirements carefully as they have changed since last year.
