Sergeant Ashly L. Moyer, 21, of Emmaus, PA., died March 3, 2007 while supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.  She was killed when an IED detonated near her vehicle.  Ashly was assigned to the 630th Military Police Company, Bamberg, Germany.  She was awarded the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, the Army Achievement Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Ashly is survived by her father, Michael Moyer, her mother Jane Drumheller, her brother Kyle Moyer, another brother, Tyler Clark, her sister, Teagan Moyer, and sister Karissa Thomas.

According to her sister Teagan, “Ashly went into the Army to protect our freedom.”

Her sister Karissa Thomas remembered her by saying, “my sister was strong and ambitious, had an amazing personality, and was bright in so many ways.” –Morning Call

Ashly’s service and sacrifice were honored during the 2013 and 2014 Shane’s Challenge. Her family and fellow soldiers participated in home building during the Expeditions. Ashly’s family also joined the Travis Manion Foundation on the West Virginia Expedition and the New Mexico Expedition to provide service to those communities.
