Top Character Strengths
PERSEVERANCE - HOPE - KINDNESS
What character strength do you value the most and why?
I value perseverance and determination because I take great pride in working hard to achieve things in life. My late husband, Brendan, taught me you must work hard for everything you get in life and things that come easy, probably aren’t worth your time. I learned from his example when you feel defeated or something appears too difficult, you must keep trying because the reward will be greater in the end.
How do your top character strengths support your work at TMF?
My character strengths demonstrate my ability to see the best in people, especially other surviving family members of our fallen and within the military community. I see how our work demonstrates the positive values and attributes our military members and surviving family members bring to their own communities, here at home. TMF provides initiatives that allows survivors and veterans to thrive in their own communities, demonstrating the best of what America offers to inspire and educate our next generation.
What do you enjoy most about working with veterans, survivors, and inspired civilians?
I enjoy seeing the growth and relationships developed within our members and staff. I have great admiration and respect for our team members, volunteers, veterans and survivors. Seeing meaningful TMF initiatives make positive lasting impact of change in one’s life, after facing adversity, continues to motivate and inspire me to expand our movement and get others involved.
