Port Orchard, WA/GORUCK - Spring 2019

Please join TMF and Kitsap Eagles Ruck Club in a ruck ending at Retsil Veterans Home for a morning of fellowship with veterans.  We will be playing games and talking over coffee, giving the residents the opportunity to see new faces and our volunteers the chance to socialize with great storytellers.

We honor the legacy of US Army Staff Sergeant Travis Atkins.  SSG Atkins, a Bozeman, MT, native in listed in 2000, and after his deployment to Iraq, he left the Army to attend University of Montana before re-enlisting in 2005.  A friend of SSG Atkins states, "When my 4-year old son, Travis, tells me his favorite superhero is Captain America and asks who mine is, my reply always and will be Staff Sergeant Travis Atkins."

Atkins’ Army awards and decorations include the Distinguished Service Cross, the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart, the Army Achievement Medal, the Army Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Noncommissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, the Valorous Unit Award with one Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Combat Infantryman Badge and the Air Assault Badge.
