Josh was born in Flint, Michigan. He grew up primarily in the Millington/Vassar area before moving to Flushing.  Josh dropped out of high school but eventually went back to night school to earn his high school diploma before entering Baker College where he was studying to become a corrections officer and eventually a police officer. Josh worked for many years in construction and was very handy.  Josh married Katie on September 16, 2000.  He loved spending time with his friends and listening to Metallica and Kid Rock.  He was an outdoorsman who would fish or hunt whenever he had the chance.  Josh enlisted in the Michigan National Guard in August 2003.  He was assigned to Bravo Company, 1-125th IN based out of Saginaw, Michigan.  Josh deployed with his unit on February 8, 2005...6 days after finding out he would be a first time Dad.  After training stateside he deployed to Kuwait in August 2005 and eventually Iraq.  His daughter, MacKenzie was born October 6, 2005.  Josh's Humvee hit an IED on November 21, 2005.  One soldier was killed instantly while the four others who were critically injured were transported to Fort Sam Houston's Brooke Army Medical Center.  One by one each soldier succumbed to their wounds including Josh on March 1, 2006. He was surrounded by his family. He was buried in Flushing. – submitted by family
