Join TMF and volunteers as we spend a day with working a food drive for Veterans and their families!

Here's a show flow of events for the day: 

• 9:30 recruits from Naval Station Great Lakes arrive along with other volunteers

• Recruits and volunteers set up tables and bring boxes of additional groceries out to the set-up area and begin filling them

• Driver picking up groceries from our partners Lake Forest Jewel and Fresh Market arrives and recruits and volunteers unload the truck and fill more bags

• 10:30-11 a.m., the Northern Illinois Food Bank (NIFB) truck arrives with 8 to 10 thousand pounds of food

• Recruits and volunteers assist the driver in unloading the truck

• Pallets of assorted food are bagged for distribution

• Distribution begins – sometimes before noon because cars are in line several blocks long

• We are usually finished before 1:30, but definitely by 1:30.

Everyone is welcome to volunteer with us on this project, regardless of age, military affiliation, etc.

This project will honor the life and legacy of all fallen heroes from Chicagoland.

All volunteers are expected to adhere to local and federal COVID safety precautions.
