GET INVOLVED WITH TMF

Find a program that fits you and how you want to connect with the TMF mission.

TMF is a community - led by veterans and families of fallen heroes but open to all - that serves together and supports each other. Regardless of military background, if you have a passion for service and honoring our fallen, there is a place for you here. Find out how you can get involved - by serving, challenging yourself physically, or donating to support the TMF mission - by exploring the opportunities below.

Character Does Matter

The hallmark program of TMF, Character Does Matter (CDM) powered by Under Armour Freedom, is a youth mentorship program led by veterans and families of the fallen volunteers that help develop character and leadership skills in young adults.

TMF Chapters

TMF Chapters - which exist in over 30 communities nationwide - are local volunteer groups led by veterans, families of fallen military heroes, and inspired civilians who have a passion for TMF’s mission.

Operation Legacy

Operation Legacy Service Projects are volunteer-led efforts that fill pressing needs in communities. Organized and led by local veterans and TMF Chapters, projects range from food drives to beautification projects carried out in honor of a fallen hero.

The Honor Project

Each year, TMF mobilizes volunteers to pay respects to fallen heroes on and around Memorial Day. At cemeteries nationwide, Spartans place commemorative tokens at the resting places of fallen heroes and pause to reflect on their service and sacrifice.

TMF Expeditions

TMF Service Expeditions are unique, service-based trips designed specifically for surviving families of military fallen heroes. These 4-7 day trips to locations like Alaska and New Orleans allow families of the fallen to serve and connect with others who understand their loss.

Spartan Leadership Program

Our proprietary 7-month Spartan Leadership Program (SLP) offers a life-changing path for veterans and families of military fallen heroes to connect passion with purpose, and leverage their own experiences to develop themselves as leaders.

9/11 Heroes Run

The 9/11 Heroes Run takes place each September nationwide and brings together 60,000 Americans across 90 communities to honor the sacrifices of September 11th. Each event pays tribute to the first responders who gave their lives on that day and the men and women who served in the wars that followed.

Manion WOD

Each year, the Manion WOD commemorates the ultimate sacrifice of 1stLt Travis Manion, USMC, on April 29, 2007. Created as a “Hero WOD,” the workout is typically held the last weekend of April at CrossFit boxes nationwide, or completed by individuals to honor and celebrate Travis’ life.

Athletic Events

Sponsored by TMF and executed by local volunteers, TMF athletic events take place throughout the year, uniting volunteers and athletes of all ages and abilities in 5k events, workouts, and more. Events serve to bridge the gap between civilians and the military community.

Mental Health + Well-Being Resources

TMF offers 24-hour access to online mental health and well-being resources through our Spartan Development Center, training to help you serve as a leader in communities, and access to counseling and crisis support for veterans and families of the fallen.

Start a Fundraiser

Any passionate Spartan can create a fundraiser to unite friends, families, and communities to raise funds for TMF. Independent fundraisers can be held on social media or in the form of an event, hosted by any individual, family, company, organization, club or school.

Donate to TMF

As a 501(c)(3), TMF relies on donations from individual donors and the generosity of companies and foundations. There are a number of ways to support the TMF mission, from one-time donations to recurring gifts, and membership in our program for elite givers, Spartan Society.
