HOST A FUNDRAISER

START YOUR OWN FUNDRAISER IN SUPPORT OF TMF

HOST A FUNDRAISING EVENT

TMF Independent Fundraisers are private fundraising opportunities that allow individuals to bring their circle together to support TMF’s mission. If you’re interested in hosting a fundraiser, please complete the inquiry form linked below. A TMF staff member will follow up within 5–7 business days.

INSPIRATION FOR YOUR FUNDRAISER

Your event can be simple—like a birthday Facebook fundraiser, bake sale, or livestream—or larger, such as an auction, raffle, garage sale, or golf outing. Every fundraiser makes a lasting impact in the lives of our nation’s heroes and their families, strengthening communities for generations to come.

FITNESS CHALLENGE

Example: Frozen Frogmen

Unite your community with a high-energy fitness event such as a squat, push-up, or endurance challenge. One example is Frozen Frogman, an annual winter swim event hosted by John and Gayle Mosko, Gold Star parents of Lt. Chris Mosko, U.S. Navy, who gave the ultimate sacrifice in Afghanistan on April 26, 2012. Participants take on outdoor swim races or a BUD/S-style workout to honor fallen heroes while supporting their families.

COCKTAIL EVENT

Example: Mattalina Wine Mixer

Raise funds while enjoying great company by hosting a cocktail hour and inviting guests to donate for entry. Events like the Mattalina Wine Mixer—an intimate backyard gathering hosted annually by Matt and Kristen Tormenti, complete with dueling pianos and signature drinks—show how a get-together can make a meaningful impact in support of TMF.

REMEMBRANCE RIDE

Example: Jim Thorpe Adventure Ride

Bring your community together to honor fallen service members through a remembrance ride. The Jim Thorpe Adventure Remembrance Ride gathers cyclists in Pennsylvania for a 75-mile journey honoring the lives and legacies of our nation’s fallen heroes.

BACKYARD TOURNAMENT

Example: WWII Veteran Tournament

Host a backyard tournament and invite friends, family, or coworkers to join an ultimate kickball, cornhole, or wiffleball competition and collect an entry fee to participate. In the past, a WWII Veteran Tournament brought the community together for a wiffleball event honoring the memory of WWII veteran Joseph Martines, all while supporting TMF.

DEDICATED WORKOUT

Example: Beach Warrior Workout

Host a workout and invite others to pledge a donation for every rep or mile completed. The Beach Warrior Workout—previously hosted by Surfside Fitness in Avalon, New Jersey, in partnership with TMF—brought participants together for a challenging 4th of July beach workout in support of our nation’s heroes.

LEMONADE STAND

Example: Gerhardt’s Halloween Lemonade Stand

Keep it simple with a bake sale or lemonade stand—an easy, family-friendly way to bring your community together while giving them something in return. The Gerhardt family of Doylestown, PA, hosted a Halloween lemonade stand, inviting neighbors to stop by for a drink and make optional donations to TMF while teaching their children the value of giving back.

EMPLOYEE 5K

Example: Barclay's Walk in Their Honor

An organization or company-wide 5K is a great way to bring your employees together for a shared purpose. It also offers an opportunity to mobilize veteran employee resource groups (ERGs) and foster understanding between civilian and military groups.

DRESS DOWN DAY

Example: QNB Casual for a Cause

For those who work in an office, coordinate with Human Resources and invite co-workers to donate $5 to your fundraiser in exchange for wearing jeans or comfy clothing on a designated day. Dress-down days are a simple way to increase employee engagement by giving everyone a fun, shared way to support a meaningful cause.

ROUND-UP CAMPAIGN

Example: Aubuchon Hardware Round-Up

Business owners can set up a round-up campaign to allow customers to round their bill up to the next dollar at checkout and donate the difference to TMF. Round-up campaigns are simple to implement, require minimal effort from staff, and make it easy for customers to participate. They can also help strengthen ethical perception, contributing to greater customer loyalty.

“I wanted to continue to serve my community by helping those less fortunate than myself. I thought of a way I could do that while staying active at the same time.” – Chad Johnson, USMC (Ret.), TMF Veteran Mentor and TMF Raleigh Chapter Lead, who has organized multiple ruck fundraisers that support his local community while raising funds for TMF.

  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    What qualifies as a fundraiser?

Your fundraiser can be an event or online campaign that raises money for Travis Manion Foundation and supports our mission of investing in veterans and families of the fallen to lead and serve in their communities. Anyone can host a fundraiser—whether it’s a car wash, athletic event, birthday fundraiser, trivia night, or more.

What event planning support does TMF offer?

TMF provides support throughout your planning process, including guidance, branding approvals, personal fundraising and registration pages, branded swag, and, when requested, promotion of your event on regional Facebook pages.

Is there anything that TMF cannot provide for my fundraiser?

We’re here to support you, but there are some services we’re unable to provide. These include full event planning, permits, insurance or liability coverage, and covering or reimbursing expenses. TMF will not share donor or vendor mailing lists, guarantee staff attendance, or arrange guest speakers.

Is there a minimum amount that needs to be raised to qualify as a fundraiser?

No minimum amount is required to qualify as a fundraiser. Funds raised will vary by event or campaign, and every effort—no matter the size—helps TMF carry out its mission of investing in veterans and families of the fallen to lead and serve in their communities.

Will each of my donors receive a detailed receipt?

Anyone who makes a direct donation to TMF through an event fundraising page or by check will receive a receipt. If a cash donor would like a receipt, the event organizer must collect their contact information and share it with a TMF staff member so a receipt can be issued.
