Janet Manion, In Memoriam

Community Leader and Visionary

In Memoriam

Janet Manion bravely took on the role of Founder and Chairman of the Travis Manion Foundation after a memorial fund established in honor of her son, 1st Lt. Travis L. Manion, USMC, became much more. As a military wife and mother, Janet spent years volunteering and served on many boards with local and national organizations. Janet was a board member of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown, where she was involved in many aspects of the organization. Through the Foundation, she also developed a partnership with the Bucks County Commissioners known as the Military Community Network of Bucks County. Through this effort, she allowed local and national groups to come together to better serve our military community.

Janet Manion died on April 24, 2012 at the age of 58, leaving behind her husband, Col. Tom Manion (Ret.) and daughter, Ryan Manion Borek, to carry forward the Travis Manion Foundation’s noble mission of honoring the fallen by challenging the living.  None of us will ever forget this courageous, inspiring leader, who proved it was possible to live out the poignant words of her only son — “If Not Me, Then Who…” — by devoting every day to putting service above self.
