Position Summary 

The Digital Marketing Director leads the organization’s digital marketing strategy across paid advertising, organic social media, website and marketing analytics. This role oversees external agency partnerships, guides internal teams, and ensures digital initiatives support fundraising, events, brand growth, and organizational objectives. This position will oversee a team responsible for TMF social media, the website, SEO, and marketing technology.

TMF accepts applications from candidates across the continental United States, with a preference for those located near a TMF office. Please note that TMF will be closed for the week of June 29 - July 3 in observance of the 4th of July. Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) unites communities to strengthen America's national character by empowering veterans and families of fallen to develop and lead future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this ethos, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Paid Advertising

  • Lead the overall paid media strategy for fundraising campaigns, events, and brand initiatives across digital channels.
  • Serve as the primary relationship owner for the organization’s paid media agency, providing strategic direction, reviewing campaign plans, and monitoring performance against KPIs.
  • Manage campaign strategy including audience targeting, budget allocation, messaging, and channel selection.
  • Oversee agency execution while maintaining the ability to independently build and manage smaller campaigns in platforms such as Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager when needed.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to align paid media efforts with organizational priorities, campaign calendars, and event timelines.
  • Ensure campaigns align with brand standards, budget expectations, and performance goals.

Organic Social Media

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the Social Media team, including strategy, review and oversight of content calendars, campaign execution, performance metrics, and channel growth plans.
  • Maintain a consistent brand voice and social presence across all platforms. 
  • Use analytics and audience behavior to inform strategy and innovation.
  • Collaborate with fundraising and events teams to create integrated digital campaigns.

Marketing Technology & Analytics

  • Provide strategic leadership to the marketing technology and analytics function.
  • Use marketing performance data and insights to guide campaign strategy, optimization, and budget decisions.
  • Partner cross-functionally to connect marketing performance with broader organizational goals and outcomes.
  • Support a data-driven marketing culture focused on measurable impact and continuous improvement.

Team Leadership

  • Manage and mentor a team responsible for social media, TMF website, SEO, and marketing technology.
  • Set team goals, measure performance, and ensure accountability in an effort to support TMF and the Marketing & Communications department.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, strategic thinking, and results.
  • Direct reports for this position include: Senior Manager of Social Media, Manager of Marketing Technology & Analytics, and Manager of Digital Marketing.

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree is required. 5-7 years of experience leading digital marketing strategy across paid media, social media, and analytics.
  • Must possess a strong understanding of digital advertising platforms, including Google Ads and Meta Ads Manager.
  • Demonstrated experience managing agency relationships and cross-functional marketing initiatives.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and mentor teams and manage multiple priorities. 
  • Remains focused and efficient in the face of pressure, delivers results with timelines; not intimidated by complex tasks, challenging timelines, or a fast-paced work environment.
  • Energetic, flexible, and proactive with dedication to the mission of Travis Manion Foundation and a passion for service and community development. Experience in a nonprofit setting is a plus, but not required.
  • Must have their own car in working condition and a valid driver’s license. Proof of automobile insurance is required. TMF does reimburse for mileage when a personal vehicle is used for business travel.
  • Military service and/or connected to the U.S. military is a plus, but not required.

The pay for this position is based on the candidate’s work experience, skills, and abilities. TMF offers a benefits package, which includes medical and dental, short-term disability, long-term disability, life and participation in our 401(k) program, to name a few. In addition, we have an attractive PTO policy along with holidays and paid parental leave.
