As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Regional Strategy & Ownership
- Hold end-to-end ownership of the assigned region — the single point of accountability for that region's performance.
- Serve as the principal liaison and subject matter expert on the region, both internally and externally.
- Drive TMF's fiscal-year strategy implementation and execution specific to the region.
- Serve as the primary driver for identifying and developing new communities to grow TMF programming.
- Oversee and take responsibility for regional workflow, productivity, and operational/administrative management.
Relationship & Partnership Management
- Set regional relationship strategy — determine which schools, partners, and communities the region prioritizes; Manager(s)/Coordinator(s) execute those relationships day-to-day.
- Partner with internal Program Department Operations teams (Character Does Matter, Chapters, Service, Volunteer Engagement) to align regional execution with national program design and standards.
- Partner with the national Development & Marketing team to support regional fundraising, donor engagement, and grant-related priorities.
People Management
- Provide direct performance management of all staff in the region — either directly (in regions where a Coordinator reports straight to the Regional Lead) or through a Manager/Sr. Manager (where that layer exists).
- Coach and develop Manager(s)/Sr. Manager(s) and Coordinator(s)/Sr. Coordinator(s) to build regional bench strength.
- Partner with the Area Director and the People/HR team on hiring recommendations and performance matters for regional staff.
Decision Rights & Budget Authority
- Own day-to-day regional decisions, including staffing assignments within the region and local program adjustments.
- Escalate non-budgeted budget requests and any staffing changes (hire/fire) to the Area Director.
- Manage the regional program budget within an approved allocation; cannot reallocate funds across regions without Area Director sign-off.
Performance & Reporting
- Own regional KPIs — regional growth, chapter/community activation, volunteer leader retention, Leading With Your Strengths participation, and related metrics.
- Report regional performance to the Area Director on a set cadence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or prior military service; minimum of 5–7 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated people-management experience overseeing a Manager/Coordinator-level team or similarly structured group.
- Track record owning the performance of a full program, territory, or region.
- Experience managing a budget allocation.
- Strong relationship-management skills with schools, community partners, and donors.
- Experience with Google Suite, Salesforce, and other systems used to manage program-related data.
- Must have a personal vehicle in working condition, a valid driver's license, and proof of automobile insurance. TMF reimburses mileage when a personal vehicle is used for business travel.
- Dedicated to the Foundation's mission, with a passion for service and community development.
