  PACKET PICKUP:

  Packet pickup takes place at the following dates and locations:
  
  Friday, September 11: 11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
  

  Hopkins County Family YMCA Gymnasium

  NO early pick-ups - We will open the doors at 11:00 AM SHARP! We use the morning hours to make sure everything is in place so packet pick-up can be as seamless as possible and will not hand out any packets before 11:00.

  Packet pickup ends at 7:30 PM SHARP so all participants and volunteers may enjoy our Opening Ceremony on-site at MFD Station One.
  

  DIGITAL CHECK-IN:

  We will be using digital check-in: Volunteers will be checking folks in using phones, tablets and/or laptops. If you have your race confirmation email on hand, we can also check you in by scanning the QR Code on your confirmation.

  *NO CASH or CHECK – digital registration only; be sure to bring your phone and credit card.
  

  SHIRTS:

  Everyone who registered by August 31 is guaranteed a shirt.
  

  WEATHER:

  Our event will take place, rain or shine (there could be a delay in case of thunder or lightening).
  All 9/11 Heroes Runs will go whether rain or shine but in the event of a major weather emergency and our race location must cancel the race, your entry fee will not be refunded – however, it will be deemed 100% tax deductible to the Travis Manion Foundation’s 9/11 Heroes Run.
  

  STREET CLOSURES:

  East Center Street, Union Street and Court Street will close at approximately 4:00 PM on Saturday, September 12 for race day prep. Please keep this in mind when you come to the event.
  

  PARKING ON RACE DAY:

  There is plenty of parking available in downtown Madisonville, including street parking on Main Street, the Hopkins County Justice Center, the First Methodist Church, the Hopkins County Government Center, Madisonville City Hall, First Baptist Church, First United Bank and Harris Funeral Home. Parking is NOT available at the Madisonville Police Department and Madisonville Fire Department, East Center Street, Court Street or Union Street.
  

  STROLLERS:

  Families with strollers are welcome! We ask that strollers start to the side or back. No bikes are allowed on the 1M & 5k courses.
  

  PET FRIENDLY:

  Our event is pet-friendly. If you plan to bring a pet, we ask that they be up to date on all vaccinations and that they are non-aggressive under any circumstances! We will have large crowds, loud noises and young children so please use your best judgement when deciding whether or not to bring your pet. We also ask that all pets be kept on a leash at all times, and that all pet owners clean up after their pets PROMPTLY.
  

  PACE:

  Be on the lookout for pace signs! We will be lining up RUNNERS based on 6-minute, 7-minute, 8-minute, 9-minute miles and 10+ minutes miles. Please line up accordingly based on your running ability. WALKERS will line up behind the runners on East Center Street.
  

  TIMING --- VERY IMPORTANT!:

  ALL 5k participants will be timed. If you do not wish to be timed, please let us know at packet pickup and we will remove your timing tag. If you begin the 5k course on race night, please finish the 5k course (unless an emergency or injury occurs) as timing results will be affected otherwise. If you find you cannot finish the course, please take off your bib and throw it away in one of the trash cans along the course or give to a first responder on the course. If you pick up your family’s bib and a member does not participate, please leave their bib at home (DO NOT keep unused tagged bibs in strollers, backpacks, etc.).
  

  1M COURSE --- VERY IMPORTANT!:

  The 1M event starts at approximately 8:10 PM. One-mile participants will turn RIGHT at Scott Street & East Broadway. One-mile participants will turn right on Arch Street to head back to the finish line. Please visit our website to see maps of both the 1M and 5k courses. We will also have maps at registration and packet pickup.
  

  GORUCK DIVISION:

  PLEASE NOTE: this division has a WEIGHT REQUIREMENT for medal consideration! Anyone registered for the GORUCK division is expected to wear a rucksack, backpack or comparable military/first responder (active duty) uniform and/or gear while participating in the 5k run/walk. GORUCK participants wanting to be considered for medal placement will bring their own rucksack/backpack to the GORUCK tent next to Packet Pickup on Saturday (weigh-in will only take place on Saturday). All those who wish to compete for medal consideration will need to weigh in between 5:30 and 7:30 PM. Weigh-in ends at 7:30 PM sharp! All those who participate in the GORUCK division will receive an exclusive GORUCK/Travis Manion Foundation tactical patch at Packet Pickup (we understand that at most GORUCK events participants receive their patch as they cross the finish line, but with our event taking place after dark and over 600 people crossing the finish line, this is not practical for our location). GORUCK participants start at the same time as 5k participants and will utilize the same race course (please pay attention to pace signs when lining up). Full details, weight requirements and additional information will be emailed to all GORUCK participants.
  

  TIME LIMIT:

  The course closes exactly one hour after Madisonville Police Department’s shotgun start of the race. A MPD vehicle will patrol the course after one hour – anyone still on the course may have a ride back to the starting area or will be asked to move to the sidewalk. There are sidewalks throughout the entire course.
  VERY IMPORTANT: Beginning on Franklin Street (after Arch Street intersection) walkers and runners will start separating. 1M participants will turn from Arch Street to Franklin Street and are to remain on the RIGHT side of the street. Runners will stay on the LEFT; walkers participating in the 5k should move to the RIGHT. Orange cones will begin the separation where Arch Street turns on Franklin and fencing will continue the separation.
  

  HYDRATION:

  Begin hydrating NOW. Please begin increasing your water intake in preparation for the one-mile, 5K and 5k GORUCK. We will have 2 water stations on the 5k course offering cups of water. We will also pass out bottled water past the finish line.
  

  PARTICIPANTS IN TURNOUT GEAR:

  No axes; No halligan bars please.
  

  FINISHLINE:

  We will have volunteers passing out water past the finish line. All other finishers and spectators should remain on the sidewalks BEHIND the fencing and not on Franklin Street. Race volunteers will be patrolling and monitoring finish line area.
  Participants --- Please continue moving once you have crossed the finish line. This is very important to cut down on the bottleneck at the finish line.
  

  FIRST AID:

  Look for the first aid tent (marked with red cross banners & EMS flag) - to the left of the finish line - should you have any first aid needs at the end of the race or need help with recovery.
  

  AWARDS:

  Top finisher medals are given to the top three male and female finishers in each age bracket of the 5K Run and to the top three male and female finishers overall for the GORUCK division (no age brackets in GORUCK).
  Please note: Top 3 overall finishers cannot also win in the individual age categories.
  The Awards Ceremony will begin at approximately 9:15 PM at MFD Station One.

• GORUCK RUCKING DIVISION

  Travis Manion Foundation is proud to partner with GORUCK again in 2026, bringing rucking divisions to every 9/11 Heroes Run. Rucking is a sport grounded in Special Forces Training in which participants carry weighted rucksacks. • SGT WILLIAM PATRICK RUDD 1-MILE HERO DEDICATION

  

  Running in Honor of Sgt William Patrick Rudd

  While on his 8th tour of duty, SGT William Patrick Rudd, of Madisonville, Kentucky, was killed by small arms fire on October 5, 2008 in Mosul, Iraq during a ground assault raid in which U.S. Forces killed the No. 2 leader of al-Qaida in Iraq. SGT Rudd completed over 800 combat missions before being KIA. Rudd was assigned as a team leader to the 3rd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, Georgia. Patrick, known to his peers by the name Ricky, enlisted in the Army on October 2, 2003 and was a dedicated Army Ranger. SGT Rudd completed numerous military leadership schools as well as Airborne and Jumpmaster training and Ranger school. He served 2 tours in Afghanistan and 5 tours in Iraq.

  For his service, SGT Rudd was awarded the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with two oak leaf clusters, and the Army Good Conduct Medal. He was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star Medal, and the Meritorious Service Medal. A 1999 graduate of Madisonville-North Hopkins High School, Patrick Rudd is remembered by his comrades as a great Ranger. Fellow Ranger, SGT Mark Williams, remembers that “Anything he did, he did with excellence.”

  SGT Rudd is a hero to us all. He lived - and ultimately died - by the Ranger motto: Rangers Lead the Way.
