Join your community on September 13 at 9:00 AM at Kottmeyer Stadium at Downingtown West High School for the 2026 West Chester 9/11 Heroes Run.
The 2026 9/11 Heroes Run 5K welcomes runners, ruckers, and walkers of all ages and fitness levels to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and honor the heroes who stepped up to serve that day and in the wars that followed. This event helps ensure future generations understand the significance of September 11, 2001, and continue to honor our first responders and service members for years to come.

GORUCK RUCKING DIVISION
Travis Manion Foundation is proud to partner with GORUCK again in 2026, bringing rucking divisions to every 9/11 Heroes Run. Rucking is a sport grounded in Special Forces Training in which participants carry weighted rucksacks. SGT. CHRISTOPHER SAMBUCO & CPL. TIMOTHY O'CONNOR 1-MILE HERO DEDICATION
Running in Honor of Sgt. Christopher Sambuco
Sergeant Christopher Sambuco, of West Chester, PA, started his police career in 1989 as an officer at SEPTA Transit Police. He worked there for 3 years before getting hired by Caln Township Police Department, in 1992. Sergeant Sambuco was part of Caln Township PD for 16 years, an assistant team leader for the Chester County Regional Emergency Response Team (SWAT), bicycle officer, and drug task force member. He received a Letter of Commendation for his excellent work in February, 2016. He was also honored by the Chester County Police Chiefs Association in 2008.
Buc, as he was called by his family and friends, loved fast cars, ice hockey, Miller Lite, hanging with his friends, and being with his wife and kids. His four kids were the biggest loves of his life!!
Buc passed away suddenly on April 12, 2018 from a heart attack. He’s survived by his wife Kristine of 18 years and four children, Ryan, Allison, twins Mason & Erin.
As an avid runner, Buc participated in many 5K events, including the 9/11 Hero’s Run, run by the Travis Manion Foundation. His family is honored to be part of such a wonderful organization and event.
