Join us in a meaningful tribute to honor our veterans as we gather to remove approximately 150 U.S. flags from Washington Crossing National Cemetery following Veterans Day. Together, we will respectfully take down the temporary flagpoles and retire the "Avenue of Flags," a moving display that honors those who have served.
The "Avenue of Flags" features 150 U.S. flags, each measuring 4 ½ by 9 feet, flying atop 20-foot removable poles along the cemetery’s roads. Each flag has been generously donated by a family whose loved one is buried here, adding a deeply personal touch to the tribute. Spaced 30 feet apart, the flags create a solemn and dignified display.
This project requires walking the length of the cemetery, and all ages are welcome to participate. Due to the delicate nature of the cotton burial flags, they are displayed only a few times each year, typically for Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
Join us in this important effort to honor our nation's heroes.
