Join Travis Manion Foundation as we partner with the Veteran & Military Community Center (VMCC) at UW Bothell to participate in a beautification project benefitting the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2995 in Redmond.
VFW Post 2995 provides a variety of services to veterans in the area - from assisting with the filing of VA Claims to hosting social events like karaoke or trivia, where veterans can relax and connect with one another.
Volunteers will be conducting various beautification projects around the post, to include some groundskeeping (mulching), cleaning, and light painting. Please wear clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty, and bring gardening gloves if you have them (a limited number of pairs are available to borrow). Steel-toed shoes or other protective gear are not required, as power tools will not be utilized during this project.
VMCC @ UW Bothell provides assistance to students who are entitled to receive educational benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs. This center is also where veterans and military-connected current and future students can find camaraderie, mutual support, and resources that enhance their educational experience leading to successful professional objectives.
TMF volunteers will serve as team leads for approximately 42 student leaders from Orientation and Peer Coaching Programs at UW Bothell.
Lunch , water, and light snacks will be provided.
Free parking is available, but please consider carpooling where possible.
ELIGIBILITY TO REGISTER: Please note that preference will be given to TMF veteran and UW Bothell volunteers on this project, however, any adult is welcome to register. Children are discouraged from attending but may accompany an adult volunteer if necessary. They must remain under the supervision of that adult at all times. Children should not be registered in advance through this site; however, if they will be attending, please notify [email protected] no later than noon on July 26.
