After graduating from High School, Chris Adlesperger briefly attended the University of New Mexico before joining the Marines. After the action that earned him the Navy Cross, he was promoted to Lance Corporal and his last letter home to his mother was to share that good news. One month after his heroic actions and before his Navy Cross was approved, he was killed in a different combat mission.
