Lance Corporal Shawn P. Hefner, USMC, of Hico, TX, was killed by an improvised explosive device while supporting combat operations on November 13, 2009, in the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. Shawn graduated from Hico High School in 2006 and finished Marine Corps Boot Camp on April 11, 2008. He was assigned to 2nd Amphibious Assault Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is survived by his parents, Patrick and Robin Hefner, and his siblings, Brandon and Jessica. Shawn’s service and sacrifice have been honored by his family and fellow Marines through the Travis Manion Foundation Character Does Matter program and through multiple Expeditions.
