PVT Jeremy Faulkner, Army, died March 29, 2011 of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his unit with small arms fire in Konar province, Afghanistan. He was 23. The soldier earned a Combat Ribbon. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky., and died supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
“We survived it,” PVT Faulkner’s company commander said, emphasizing the heroism of all his soldiers. “When it’s all said and done, Jeremy’s actions speak louder than (anything) we can do here.”
The Travis Manion Foundation honored PVT Faulkner through the Character Does Matter program in January 2012 when his story inspired 700 students at Parkview High School and cadets at a Drill Camp in Lilburn, GA.
