BRAVERY - HONESTY - LOVE

Justin was born in Georgia in 1984, and raised in Wentzville, MO, until he joined the Army at 19. He was brought up in a household that had strong Christian beliefs, which he carried forth throughout his life. He was a dedicated husband, father and friend, forever known as the "Family Man" by all those who came in contact with him. His devotion to his family encouraged him to continue his military career. His interests included reading books, playing WOW online, blacksmithing, knives, guns and going to the range. But above all, he loved the Lord Jesus Christ, and us, his family. Justin lived a simple life, not chasing worldly treasures. He would often say that this was not his home and he was just passing through. He was wise beyond his short years here on earth. A no-nonsense man, he could often be heard saying no, to basically everything that went outside what he thought was not right. There was no persuading him, if he questioned anything, he went to the Bible or his elders for the answer and was only led by what he found there. During his time while deployed, he could often be seen sitting down with his fellow soldiers and spreading the gospel and encouraging them with their struggles. There are stories about him being the one the Chaplains themselves would call on when they needed solace. He was able to create peace and guidance in such a kind and loving way when needed, and other times he was so blunt that had me thinking about myself, but later as I sat and thought about it, it would make so much sense. He said what needed to be said, and in such an impactful way. His legacy of kindness left behind and his integrity as a man and husband will last for generations to come. He has passed these traits, thoughts and actions on to those around him and no doubt will be shared and remembered.

Character Strength Story:

There is not any one story in particular that would showcase any of these in regards to him. Every decision he made was carefully calculated and decided upon. Every thought or action Justin made came from love, care and concern for his family. I can't remember a time that any action he had was not led with love, respect or bravery for those he loved. He always did what was right at all costs, he cared for the well being of others deeply, and all who knew him loved and respected him. He had honor when no one looked and always had a kind heart and listening ear.
