Zachary David Keyser was born on July 24, 1986. He was the oldest of four boys. He grew up is a small town in Chatham, New York. He was very involved in 4-H, raising pigs, sheep and cows to be shown annually at the county fair.  He started work on a farm at the age of 14, working weekends and summers throughout high school. He played football and enjoyed quads and dirt bikes. Upon graduation from high school, Zac tried several avenues including college and construction work. It wasn’t until his best friend joined the Marines that Zac found his true calling. After hearing about the Marines from his friend, Zac enrolled in the Marines and left for boot camp in January of 2006. He loved it and pushed himself to be the best. After basic training, Zac was stationed in Bahrain for one year. After returning to the States, he was stationed in Huntsville, Alabama. While in Huntsville, he was determined to become part of the Special Forces unit. He was accepted into the MARSOC program in May of 2010. He spent his last summer with us that July. He died in a car accident on September 29, 2010, days before MARSOC training was to start. submitted by family
