Rob was outgoing, popular, and athletic in high school. He played several varsity sports and then went on the play football in college. After graduating from the State University of New York at Cortland, enlisted in the Navy under the SEAL Challenge Program. One of a small number of the original members of BUD/S Class 251 which graduated in November 2004 and SQT in May 2005, at which time awarded the Navy SEAL Trident.

He returned from Ramadi, Iraq in April 2007 after a very active tour. Rob was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor for actions in combat. Immediately upon return from Iraq he experienced insomnia, night sweats, flashbacks, anxiety attacks, social withdrawal and alcohol abuse.

Stigma associated with PTSD/TBI prevented him from seeking evaluation/treatment while assigned to the SEAL teams. Rob Guzzo ended his life in November 2012 with a self-inflicted gunshot to the head.
