TEAMWORK - APPRECIATION OF BEAUTY - CREATIVITY

Walter L. McWain enlisted in the Army in 1955. He was a career Army veteran, having served as a communications specialist in Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, Germany, and multiple stations within the United States. Following his military career, he became a Deputy Sheriff in Columbus, Georgia. He later returned to his home state of New York, and continued to serve in law enforcement in the towns of Lake George, and Lake Luzerne. His passion was his woodworking during his years of retirement. Despite deteriorating health in his later years, he continued to share his knowledge of woodworking with his grandchildren. Walter passed away on March 24, 2021, leaving behind his family, but living on in their memories.

Character Strength Stories:
Teamwork- Walter always looked for opportunities to help others. He would spend a day or a week helping a neighbor with a project.

Appreciation of Beauty- He was generous with his time, and knowledge. He always made time to teach his grandchildren woodworking.

Creativity- He was a perfectionist in his woodworking, having created many intricate scroll-worked clocks. His clocks were a work of perfection due to his endless persistence in creating a beautiful heirloom.
