SSgt. Liam Flynn was born in England and raised in Ireland by two loving Irish parents, Ann and Billy Flynn. He is one of eight children. Liam decided to pursue a dream in the United States Marine Corps. In 2006, living in NYC, he finally decided he would join as an Infantryman. In 2010, he joined Marine Corps Forces, Special Operations (MARSOC). Liam did four deployments (IRAQ/Afghanistan) within his time in USMC. Liam was a loving husband, father to Leilani, loyal brother, and a friend to all.

Character Strength Story: Liam never talked about himself, nor did I ever hear him speak ill-will about anyone. I learned more about his military career through his brothers and what they witnessed. The one constant thing I heard about Liam was his humility. At Liam's funeral, a friend kindly approached me and said, "I would not be here if it wasn't for him, and my daughter would have been the one to receive the folded flag years ago."  At that moment, I realized how much he meant to so many people and how he left a print on people. -Submitted by Destiny, Liam's wife
