A Look Back at our 2019 Heroes Run Race Series: Coming Together to Honor America's Fallen Heroes
On the weekends surrounding September 11th, approximately 60,000 people took time out of their busy schedules to pause and remember America's fallen heroes. At the 9/11 Heroes Run, our members honored the sacrifice of those who gave their lives on September 11, 2001 and in all the wars since. Most of us don't need the reminder that 18 years prior, our country lost nearly 3000 American lives, including many heroes from our first responder and law enforcement communities who stepped up when their country needed them the most. And while most of us here don’t need to be reminded of that terrible tragedy, it is never the less important that we say it, and important that we remember. Because in remembering, we ensure that the legacies of our heroes live on.
Honoring the legacies of these heroes is the goal of our annual 9/11 Heroes Run race series and we're proud of the tens of thousands of Spartans who worked with us to achieve it. Runners, Ruckers, walkers, volunteers, organizers, and supporters of all ages came out to be a part of their local community event. Old and new friends in 90 communities around the world--including many women deployed or stationed overseas--came together to remind our country how strong we are, even 18 years following that horrible tragedy.
We were excited to once to partner with GORUCK to offer a rucking division and are grateful for the support of Comcast NBCUniversal who helped bring this 5k series coast to coast.
