Join your community on Sunday, September 13 at 9:11 AM at Cooper River Park for the 2026 Pennsauken 9/11 Heroes Run.

The 2026 9/11 Heroes Run 5K welcomes runners, ruckers, and walkers of all ages and fitness levels to commemorate the 25th anniversary of 9/11 and honor the heroes who stepped up to serve that day and in the wars that followed. This event helps ensure future generations understand the significance of September 11, 2001, and continue to honor our first responders and service members for years to come.

GORUCK RUCKING DIVISION

Travis Manion Foundation is proud to partner with GORUCK again in 2026, bringing rucking divisions to every 9/11 Heroes Run. Rucking is a sport grounded in Special Forces Training in which participants carry weighted rucksacks. All participants registered for the GORUCK division will receive this year's exclusive TMF GORUCK patch. Please read the rules and requirements carefully. GENE DANNENFELSER 1-MILE HERO DEDICATION

Running in Honor of Gene Dannenfelser
Gene dedicated his life to Public Service and the protection of others. He retired as a Camden County Fire Marshal holding the highest rank of Deputy Chief. He held the highest rank of Chief and life member of the Haddon Heights Department. Gene’s dedication to the fire service brotherhood continued when he was sent to Ground Zero on 9/11 for rescue and recovery efforts. Gene fought a courageous battle with 9/11 related lung cancer. He passed, surrounded by his loving family. He was a class act and a true hero. Gene was involved in many organizations over the years, but one of his proudest accomplishments was serving the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund.
Gene joined the Board of Trustees of the Camden County Hero Scholarship Fund in 1992. He served as Vice President from April of 1999 to January of 2002 when he took a temporary leave from the Board. He returned in April of 2009 and served until his untimely passing. He was elected President of the organization in April of 2011 and served with distinction until September of 2017 when he stepped down for health reasons.
Many individuals have served the Camden County Hero Scholarship over the years,
but Gene’s dedication went above and beyond. He was actively involved in every committee, attended nearly every event we hosted and was an avid supporter of the organization. But what stands out the most was his kind heart, sense of humor and willingness to help anyone, in any way he could. Many people were honored to call Gene a friend. He left a legacy that will live on forever! He is and will always be missed by many!
