2018 Operation Legacy - Fall

Event Recap

TMF’s Operation Legacy, a series of community service projects on and around Veterans Day, unites communities to cultivate character and leverage the leadership of our nation’s veterans and families of the fallen. Bonded by selfless service, military service members, surviving families, youth, and inspired civilians find their “If Not Me, Then Who…” moments.

In Fall 2018, TMF supported more than 130 service projects in nearly 40 states, from Connecticut to California, Illinois to Louisiana, along with with 30 virtual volunteers participating across the country, and 3 additional projects in Canada.

Overall, project leaders and their volunteers completed over 11,740 hours of service in planning and executing their projects. This year also welcomed a partnership with GORUCK, whose regional teams organized events that benefited their local communities, from moving trash out of natural areas in Dania Beach, Fl., to rucking donations to drop-off points in Mount Joy, Pa.

Some projects hosted big names, like in South Philadelphia, where George W. Bush and Laura Bush joined more than 200 volunteers to plant trees in honor of fallen heroes and serve alongside active military personnel, veterans, fellow VSOs, and the community.
