Matt grew up in Northern California in Berkeley and attended the Naval Academy after high school.  It was there that he really honed his skills and love of sailing while competing on the USNA sailing team throughout all four years of school. Matt visited many of our country’s historic seaports while on the sailing team, as Navy was often invited as a symbol of the future of our Naval fleet  Matt was always interested in flying and knew that he wanted to serve as a pilot after the academy. During his military career, Matt flew P-3’s for the USN and served at duty stations in Jacksonville, Fl., Pt. Mugu, Ca., Kaneohe, Hi., and Corpus Christi, Tx. He is survived by his wife and children. – submitted by family.
