Joggin’ for Frogmen Race Series to Host 10th Anniversary 5K Race in San Diego benefiting Travis Manion Foundation

JogginFrogmen Starting LineSAN DIEGO, CA - One of the nation’s leading veteran service organizations, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), will be the beneficiary for the Joggin’ for Frogmen 10 Year Anniversary 5K race in San Diego on November 6, 2021.  The annual race will activate communities from around the world to honor the sacrifices of our Naval Special Warfare service members and veterans, and to support the families of our fallen heroes. This race series bring communities together to celebrate the lives of America’s fallen and to express our deep gratitude to those still serving.

Now in its 10th year in the city of San Diego, Joggin’ for Frogmen (JFF) will be honoring the service and sacrifice of our nation’s heroes once again.  JFF began as a way to honor the 31 heroes lost on EXTORTION 17 on August 6, 2011 and started as a single 3.1 mile race in San Diego in 2011, and has expanded across the globe hosting thousands of participants. Each year, they encourage communities across the country to celebrate the lives of America’s fallen heroes and express deep gratitude to those still serving.

The San Diego event has raised $705,000 over the last 10 years and will look to make this the most successful year to date. Registration for the 5K and Tadpole Trot will include custom finisher’s medals for all participants, chip timing and bibs, custom patch (for rucking participants) and a race t-shirt. After the race, athletes and spectators can enjoy a festival-style event including a beer garden, food trucks, and parachute jumpers landing in the park.  Check the website for current race registration pricing.  http://www.jogginforfrogmen.com/sandiegoca/

A Virtual Runner registration option is available for participants who can't attend the race, but still want a shirt and medal. For $45 (including shipping), virtual racers will receive a shirt and finisher’s medal within three weeks after the race.

Through events such as this, Travis Manion Foundation provides support to survivors within the Naval Special Warfare community with best-in-class personal development training and experiences, which allow them to find healing and honor their loved ones through service. That includes opportunities to serve as mentors to youth, forge connections with one another, experience opportunities for personal growth, and serve as leaders in their communities.  Over the last ten years, Joggin’ for Frogmen events nationwide have raised more than $1.4 million dollars for military families.

About Travis Manion Foundation:

Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) unites communities to strengthen America's national character by empowering veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop and lead future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation.

The story of 1stLt Travis Manion and his Naval Academy brother LT(SEAL) Brendan Looney have been publicized in the book Brothers Forever, and additional information about the Foundation can be found at www.travismanion.org.
