Volunteers from RTX and TMF Team Up to Revitalize Southwest Boys and Girls Club of Hartford
Veterans Team Up to Serve Hartford Community
Military veterans from Travis Manion Foundation (TMF), The Mission Continues, and RTX teamed up to revitalize indoor and outdoor spaces at Southwest Boys and Girls Club of Hartford on Saturday, November 1.
Over 30 volunteers participated in the dedicated day of service, which was a continuation of work completed in April to create a more vibrant, welcoming environment for learning and play at the city’s oldest Boys and Girls Club. The project, made possible through support from RTX, marked an opportunity for veterans to continue their service after taking off the uniform by serving shoulder to shoulder with fellow veterans in their community.
“Thanks to generous support from RTX, military veteran volunteers made a tangible and lasting difference at Southwest Boys and Girls Club of Hartford,” said Travis Manion Foundation CEO Ryan Manion. “I’m grateful to RTX for recognizing that veterans are our nation’s greatest civic assets, and I look forward to continued collaboration between RTX and Travis Manion Foundation in Hartford.”
“The work that volunteers from TMF, TMC and RTX completed at Southwest Boys and Girls Club to refresh outdoor and indoor spaces helps ensure that members of our community have a safe and inspiring place to play and learn,” said Southwest Boys and Girls Club Director Lulu Carrasco. “I am inspired by the veterans’ dedication to continued service in this community, and I’m excited to continue to collaborate.”

“Greater Hartford is home to more than 15,000 RTX employees, many of whom are veterans or military-connected families themselves,” said Kristy Becerra, senior director, Corporate Social Responsibility at RTX. “We recognize that service is a lifelong commitment that reaches far beyond military duty. Partnering with the Travis Manion Foundation allows us to continue to serve together and make a meaningful difference for our veterans, our community and partners like Boys & Girls Club of Hartford.”
In 2025, Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) acquired The Mission Continues, bringing two best-in-class organizations together to provide more opportunities for veterans to find community, lead, and serve. Support from RTX is driving the expanded organization’s continued growth in Hartford, empowering veterans in the area to come together through service and address some of the community’s most pressing needs.
About Travis Manion Foundation
Travis Manion Foundation (TMF) unites communities to strengthen America's national character by empowering veterans and families of fallen heroes to develop and lead future generations. In 2007, 1stLt Travis Manion (USMC) was killed in Iraq while saving his wounded teammates. Today, Travis' legacy lives on in the words he spoke before leaving for his final deployment, "If Not Me, Then Who..." Guided by this mantra, veterans continue their service, develop strong relationships with their communities, and thrive in their post-military lives by serving as character role models to youth. As a result, communities prosper and the character of our nation’s heroes lives on in the next generation.
